For Food’s Sake: Dublin and Dingle

We’re off to Dingle this weekend, for the Dingle Food & Wine Festival with a tasting menu of short food talks and screenings. But not before we cook up a Chinese feast in Dublin on Thursday night for The Sugar Club’s screening. Read on for all the details!

On the last Thursday of every second month, For Food’s Sake host regular bi-monthly evenings of food talk and tastings. This month, we’re taking the food talk to Dingle, for the annual Dingle Food and Drink Festival. So we thought we’d give our Dublin fans a treat, and hold another screening of a classic food-filled film, served up with a delicious dinner inspired by that night’s movie.

Back in June, we screened Big Night, the hilarious tale of two Italian brothers coming to terms with American appetites – served up with a River Café risotto recipe and a charred courgette and herb salad. Next Thursday 29 September, we’re sharing the joys of Chinese food with hungry Dubliners. To whet the audience’s appetite for the screening of Eat Drink Man Woman, we’re borrowing two chefs from the award-winning China Sichuan who will be serving up Bon Bon Chicken to start (spicy chicken with a chilli, peanut & soya dressing), followed by Fish Fragrance Pork Shreds (shredded pork in a hot ginger garlic sauce) or Mo Pa Tofu (Sichuan pepper and chilli-spiced beancurd) for mains, and Cocunut & Green Tea Pannacotta for dessert. We’ll be keeping prices keen again, with a starter and main combo for just €10, not to mention bottles of house wine for just €10.

Then on Saturday 1 October, in the intimate setting of Dingle’s Coach House gallery, For Food’s Sake will host a ‘tasting menu’ series of short food talks and film screenings. And yes, there will be free tastings, as always.

When? Every half hour, on the half hour, from 5pm–7pm, Doors from 4.45pm

How much? €5 whether you drop in for one course, come and go, or stay for them all
